What is the deal with the green blob thing

I started using the bookworm as an avatar on Twitter in 2014. It was part of a set of icons created for Hot Potato by Chad Pugh. Hot Potato was a short-lived check-in app that I really loved, back when there were a lot of check-in apps.

I don’t know why I gravitated to this little friend but it’s consistently been my profile picture just about everywhere for like a decade now. I don’t know if Chad knows I use it. I hope he finds it funny.
