Here’s how my apartment looked this morning:
All the grave markers have mud and primer and are ready for final show paint (and sealing and fireproofing). The skeletons are mudded but I won’t prime them until they’re all permanently attached to their stands—that happens this weekend. The ghosts have mud but I want to sand them before priming. The vertical portions of the tomb arches are each half-covered in mud; the horizontal parts, as well as all of the parts of the mausoleum (which Zander built over the last couple days!) still need a layer of wheatpaste before they’re mudded. That will also happen this weekend.
I submitted Graveyard Swing to a bunch of places this week: Time Out New York, The Village Voice, and the Everything Immersive community, which is lovely.
Also, we’re going to try posting to Instagram more regularly. I created this account last year but Zander and I both logged in for the first time a couple days ago. It turns out that the Instagram app has really nice support for managing multiple accounts! You should follow @variablestage on Instagram. I captured the work that lead to the above photo in a timelapse and posted it there! It was fun. My hands are still speckled with primer.
The show opens in two weeks. There’s still a lot to do. It’s gonna happen, and it’s gonna be great, but your boy is very nervous right now.
